Who We Are

Overcomers Charities help people “overcome” the struggles and challenges of life and walk with the broken. We tirelessly strive to serve others in their time of need.

Feeding People. Feeding Souls.

Overcomers Charities provides food programs and spiritual care to marginalized communities. Our focus is working people that have not found housing and end up in weekly rate motels.
Why do we zero in on the weekly motel residents?
The majority have jobs in the local area and are tax paying citizens. We wanted to help this low-income community get back on their feet. We also serve a small group of motel residents with partial disabilities, and are limited in finding a place to live.

Meet the Founder

Britt Park

Hello!
We welcome you to browse, learn about our charity, and also my journey. My journey started several years ago and was both a physical and spiritual journey. I tell my story to encourage others, to provide hope, and to offer that no matter what your circumstances, you can recover. I tell everyone I meet: your past has a PURPOSE! I’m living proof. Thank you for visiting our site and thank you Jesus for redeeming me!
Sincerely, Chaplain Britt

MY STORY

What was wrong with me?

In the corporate world for 30+ years in sales and management, I had led very successful sales teams with over one hundred employees and tens of millions in sales. I had received accolades, trips, awards, and did very well financially. Though successful in business my personal life was a trainwreck.

I had decades of poor choices, multiple bad marriages, and many drunken moments. In 2017, I was 302 lbs. and used to party with the best of them, eat like a pig, and drink like a fish. I was angry at those that had hurt me. I was on a CPAP machine, had extremely high blood pressure, and needed to be on statins for high cholesterol. I was dangerously close to having a stroke or heart attack. On top of that, I was leaving my 4th bad marriage. I was depressed, miserable, and carrying wounds from the last 30 years. My wounds were deep and MINE to keep and use as a victim mentality. Fortunately, Jesus hadn’t given up on multiple divorces, many drunken moments, and 302 lbs.

I got focused, exercised, improved my diet, and lost 100 lbs. No more CPAP machine, no more blood pressure issues, and no statins needed. Though a fantastic physical journey, I hit rock bottom mentally while losing weight in 2017. I was an empty shell, scarred, tattered, and broken. I felt ashamed and had little self-esteem from my divorces and past. The real journey was about to begin – the spiritual journey and rebirth of Britt.

I can assure you losing 100 lbs. was much easier than shedding 30 years of wounds. I had stayed a victim of hurts far too long. I met a pastor and former street preacher that allowed me to share my wounds and listened to my story, with no judgment on all my poor choices. Jesus began to wrap his loving arms around me. After many gut-wrenching months I cried out. Jesus took me to the altar and I gave it all up. He didn’t care about all my mistakes and screw ups. My past didn’t matter. I asked forgiveness and forgave all that had hurt me. My past was washed away, with the blood of Jesus Christ. It was transformational and amazing. I finally had peace after 30 years of pain.

The love of Jesus was now back in me. A healthy mind creates a healthy body. After losing the weight and getting fit, I started volunteering at my church in 2018, creating and delivering food baskets to any in need. Helping others helped me feel better about myself, and pay it forward – the peace I found through Jesus Christ. Later, with my pastor’s encouragement, I obtained my master’s degree in ministry in 2021. I then completed a non-denominational Chaplaincy program.

As a Chaplain, God placed it on my heart to start an outreach ministry at a weekly rate motel, providing food and spiritual care. My way to give back for all Jesus had done for me and help the residents “overcome” their challenges in life and find their way back. Like Jesus had walked with me, I would walk with the broken. Over time, we were blessed with more food sources and the ministry took off. We are now a 501( c )(3) nonprofit, a public charity. I am so thankful Jesus redeemed me. If I can forgive those that hurt me, and recover from being broken and find my way back to peace, joy, and the love of Jesus Christ, so can you. I hope by reading my story you can be encouraged and know that by turning to Jesus you can also be on a better path. Overcomers Charities is here to help you in that journey.

Sincerely,
Chaplain Britt
